I shakedly closed the book, not wanting to read anymore. I though I should visit my neighbors, maybe they could give me some info. Plus, I want to meet other people like me...

I stopped at the door. I was scared for an second. Only a second....After that I was just happy. Would this person in this house be like me? Or worse...I dont know what to expect. "Well, are you going to come in or not?", I heard a smooth voice yell from inside the house.

I didnt say anything and a man with strange grey skin, blue hair, and hot pink eyes stepped out of his house. He looked at me, "Your eyes...". I cut him short," They're yellow, I know." He gave a slight smile, clearly not offended by my rude interruption. "Do you feel happy?", I asked bitterly already knowing the answer. "Well before I looked in your eyes no, but now...", The man faltered. "My name is Portia Sanford, whats yours?", I asked him changing the subject. "Cobalt Hill.", Cobalt said with a wry smile, "Kinda fitting, huh...well, come on in Portia."
I walked into the house with him trailing after me. I just stood in the living room like an idiot. Cobalt leaned in close to me, "Portia, have they...done it to you yet?" For once my expression was that of fear, " N-no, done what?" He narrowed his eyes at me, "What they call "DNA extractions", have they done it to you yet?" I shook my head. "Well, you will, you will.", Cobalt said eerily.
Lets just say when Im scared, my always happy curse acts up. I started making faces and Cobalt looked at me strangely. "Umm...are you alright, Portia?", He said nervously. He probably was getting scared of me now, like all the rest of the people I met. "Pwefectwy fwine", I assured him, my words sounding odd because of my tongue sticking out. Cobalt eyed me critically, "Oh, this must be your difference or "gift" as the Agency calls it."
Probably to make me feel better, Cobalt started making faces too. "Mwight as well be a twosome", He laughed. I smiled at him gratefully. Maybe Cobalt will be my first friend.
